Reinforcement of painted plaster fragments
The first stage was the faceing-up of each fragment, or group of fragments. The painting was carefully examined to identify suitable fragments or groups of fragments.
Pieces of fine nylon netting were cut to shape and glued to the selected portion with 30% Paraloid B. 72 in acetone, as shown in the sequence below.
As they were faced up, a small self-adhesive disc with a pencilled number was applied to the face of each separate fragment or group of fragments
