The 1841 Census

Frederick's entry is shown in the highlighted row.

It gives his address as 3 Cecil Street, (Westminster).

His name, Frederick Scott Archer, and his age, somewhere between 25 and 29, (the ages of adults in this first census were rounded down to five year groups).

His profession as Sculptor and in the last column, where born, Scotland, initial 'S' in the last column.

Giving Scotland as his place of birth must be due to an error by the enumerator, his second name presumably having caused that confusion.

The heading of the last column is a not easy to read but it says "Where Born" heading two sub columns, the first, headed "Whether Born in Same County", the second, "Whether born in Scotland, Ireland or Foreign Parts"
